Port Phillip Bay covers approximately 2000 square kilometres and is home to outstanding shore-based and boat-based fishing locations, with some of the best fishing on the eastern part of the bay.

Land-based options include the jetty at Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron, the Beaumaris Scout Hall Pier, the jetty at Half Moon Bay, Sandringham Harbour, and the rock walls from Green Point through to the Brighton breakwall. The species on offer vary, but can include squid, cuttlefish, snapper (small and large), whiting, flathead to garfish, mullet and bream.

There are maps and publications with GPS coordinates for boat anglers, but most regulars have, or stumble upon, their own spots. Please remember to stay out of the Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary and always be safe because no fish is worth a life.
